God’s Signature

This morning as I gazed upon the sparkling leaves of the cottonwood trees reflecting the rays of sunshine, as they danced in the gentle breeze, I praised God for such beauty. No human artist can capture such elegance or duplicate such splendor. As I contemplated the magnificence of the scene, the depth of unseen purposes of what I was witnessing added to the amazement and wonder of my environment.

Not only did the shimmering branches provide a visual delight that warmed my heart with gratification, they offered homes to an abundance of insects, birds and squirrels, all of which play a role in the ecosystem that sustains human life. Through photosynthesis the spectacle before me was utilizing the sunlight to synthesize nutrients from carbon dioxide and water, as I watched, thereby replenishing the oxygen necessary to keep me alive.

I listened to the different songbirds that brought merriment to my soul and thanked our Creator for His provision of joy that nature uniquely and regularly dispenses. In the winter months my mind often replays the songs of robins as I long for their return to my locale and anticipate the rejuvenation of spring. So I made special effort to simply drink in these precious moments of the morning. Only an omnipotent God could orchestrate such excellence. His signature is evident in all of creation.

Our secular society would have you believe everything is the result of random evolutionary processes. The theory of evolution is promoted as fact in our schools, universities, museums, governments and the media, in a blatant attempt to remove our Creator from the equation. It is a theory that is filled with gaps, is not observable in the natural world and fails to explain the complexity of nature, from the tiniest organisms to the inherent intelligence of DNA.

Wisdom Originates With God

The Bible says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6).

The human mind defies all the logic of Darwinism as does the beauty of a peacock. Evolutionary biology is locked into a paradigm that is being surpassed by new scientific evidence that dismantles the foundation of Darwin’s theory, yet the scientific establishment isn’t ready to admit they were wrong. Much of the scientific community refuses to accept its error and is in a state of a hypocritical and perpetual denial of the truth.

Intelligence does not arise by chance from unintelligence and intelligent design implies there is an intelligent designer. Geophysicist Dr. Stephen C Meyer states, “The information contained in an English sentence or computer software does not derive from the chemistry of the ink or the physics of magnetism, but from a source extrinsic to physics and chemistry altogether. Indeed, in both cases, the message transcends the properties of the medium. The information in DNA also transcends the properties of its material medium.”

Proponents of evolutionary theory like to portray themselves as above reproach, of superior intellect and often hide behind complex rationale to support their position. Chemist Dr. James Tour concedes the scientific position of ignorance. “The basis upon which we as scientists are relying is so shaky that we must openly state the situation for what it is: it is a mystery.” The finite mind cannot comprehend an infinite Creator. 1 Corinthians 3:19-20 teaches us, “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: ‘He catches the wise in their craftiness’; and again, ‘The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.’”

The “illusionary truth effect” is the term given to the phenomenon that repeated statements seem more truthful than novel ones. Research has shown that belief in all statements, whether they are plausible or implausible, will increase with repetition. This notion has been widely attributed to Joseph Goebbels (albeit incorrectly), minister of propaganda under the Nazi government in Germany.

Goebbels is quoted as saying, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the state can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the state to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the state.” This phenomenon is very evident in Russian society today.

We now have multiple generations of students that have swallowed the evolutionary narrative and believe that humans are descended from apes. They will cite make misleading statements that humans share 98% similar genes with chimpanzees while conveniently forgetting that we share 98% similar genes with pigs also. It is the overall differences that are significant. They include about thirty-five million single-nucleotide changes, five million insertions and deletions, and various chromosomal rearrangements.

Jesus Confirmed Creation As Truth

Jesus Christ interpreted the events recorded in the book of Genesis as history. Matthew 19:4-5 records Christ’s words, “Haven’t you read,’ He replied, ‘that in the beginning the Creator made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother to be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?” Additionally, Jesus referenced creation when he prophesied about the great tribulation, saying, “Pray that this will not take place in the winter, because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world, until now – and never to be equalled again.” (Mark 13:18-19).

Jesus also implied the truth of creation when He said, “But do not think that I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. If you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say.” (John 5:45-47). Moses wrote the books of Genesis and Exodus. In Exodus 20:11 he says, “For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, but He rested on the seventh day.”

As society has drifted away from God’s truth it has descended to greater and greater immorality. Today even the validity of truth is being questioned and we are being referred to as a post-truth culture. The apostle Paul wrote, “The wrath of God is being revealed against all godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” (Romans 1:18-20).

Satan is the father of lies and evolutionary theory is part of his strategy to drive mankind in rebellion to God. It is just one component of a greater plan to diminish the authority of God’s word and coerce civilization down the wide road that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14).

Beyond All Odds

The odds of the universe existing as it does purely to chance are beyond astronomical. “The cosmos is built on a complex set of physical constants, and on relationships between fundamental forces and particles, all of which possess infinitesimally specific values. Even the slightest deviation in any of these values, and the universe as we know it could not exist, much less support life.” (Stubby Szterszky, A fine-tuned cosmos and the hand of the Creator).

Even the word cosmos connotes intelligent design. It originates from ancient Greek and means order and arrangement with harmony and beauty. Every detail of the universe is in perfect balance to sustain life on earth. The air we breathe is the perfect balance of components, the composition of water is perfect to support all life, plants and animals all testify to the delicate balance of nature. If any of the factors that finely tune the universe were altered in the slightest, life could not exist.

The probability of a universe developing that can support life by chance is so incredibly small that it is for all intents and purposes impossible. The laws of nature and the initial parameters at the beginning of the universe had to be precisely balanced for life to exist. The weak force, which operates in the nucleus of an atom, is so finely tuned that the alteration of it to the quantity of one part in ten to the power of one hundred would prevent a life permitting universe.

When you venture out on a new moon night with clear skies, you can experience the incredible splendor of the Milky Way Galaxy stretching across the heavens like a testimony that no accident can precipitate such refinement. It is the original star spangled banner that can never be duplicated. The precision with which each star is displayed is truly a declaration of God’s handiwork. God’s signature is hidden in full view everywhere in His masterpiece.

King David wrote in Psalm 19:1-2, “The heavens declare the Glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.” And the prophet Isaiah penned, “Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” (Isaiah 40:26). Even these words cannot fully express the magnitude of the glory of creation.

Praise God for His immeasurable intelligence and infinite power that we should benefit from His perfect design and creation of a world we clearly don’t deserve. Praise Him for His grace and the truth of His word that proclaims His immense love for humanity; that led Him to create such beauty, such magnificence and such marvelous splendor. Praise Him for the perfection of His redemption of those who have believed in the Almighty and precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!!!
